Electre Selecteh and the point of no return
The first selecteh has debuted, it's rolling, and there is no way back. Three weeks ago, this was just a vague idea in someone's head.
On July 22, icaria36 (yours truly) met stephie wunder at Wem gehort die Welt because of a shirt. Funny enough, there was FC Stoffel there too, also because of a shirt. The Bauwagenplatz in Cologne had something inspiring and the loose conversation was inspiring too. As I was walking back home, I decided to try this idea of publishing a selection of social electronic music.
Two days later, I reserved selecteh.org and I shared A music selection idea welcomes your feedback on The Social Music Network. I got some good feedback. Very important to me, I got signs of support from Marcel Costa (Anartist / La Instrumental) and Prince Lucija (Sonomu & more), two people that accumulate a lot of experiences and know well enough by now.
After roughly one week of tech (to be explained another day) and one week of texts (evenings only, after work), Selecteh is standing on a decent foundation and Electre Selecteh has started to walk. Meanwhile, I have started to listen social music systematically and critically. I will have enough material for Electre Selecteh but is there enough new music released in fair platforms as to feed selectehs of various genres, languages, regions, and communities? I could be wrong, but I think not nowadays. And I could be wrong, but I want to think that having a selecteh run by someone passionate can help bring more musicians of a specific genre, language, region, or community. I mean, there is a lot of good music published in smaller platforms, and if the artists would know more about The Social Music Network and the Fediverse...
I'll leave that to others. My focus now is to publish a very interesting and inspiring Electre Selecteh in September. If anyone wants their selecteh, I'm ready to support them. If nobody shows up it's fine too. It might be too early, and I will let Electre Selecteh speak by itself.
